2020-2021 Return to School Information
Our priority for the start of the 2020-21 school year is returning Mooresville students to high-quality learning in a safe environment, with options to fit our families’ needs. To help our staff, students, and families navigate the changes which must occur to start school this fall, we have created our Pioneer Pathways to Reopening and several supporting documents. Please read through the following documents to help answer questions you may have about the return to school.
Our school year calendar will be as planned. The IDOE has asked all schools to have 180 days of instruction.
This guide looks at the overall plans for reopening at a district level, including sections on Practicing Prevention, Transporting Students, Entering School Buildings, Food Services, Transitioning Classes, Conducting Large Group Gatherings (Including Athletics), Supporting Teaching and Learning, Protecting Vulnerabe Populations, and When Someone Displays Symptoms or Becomes Sick. The document was prepared in coordination with and has been approved by the Morgan County Health Department. It also includes links to resources from the CDC, IDOE, ISDH, and other government agencies. Our Reopening Supplement for Maintenance, Transportation, and Food Services gives additional information about staff protocols in those areas.
This gives guidance for all county schools on COVID-19 symptoms, handling illness and suspected cases within a school setting, and MCHD protocols. It also includes information regarding notification policies and contact tracing.
Input from parents, teachers, staff and community members on our school committees helped us create information about many questions about the start of school.
So all families and our schools may start the school year with information needed to provide the best experience possible, all families will need to complete Return to Learn online registration. In addition to annual back to school forms, this year’s registration includes choosing in-classroom or online learning, acknowledging COVID-19 Information, confirming a student transportation plan, and learning about family services programs. Parents will be notified when Return to Learn is posted in Skyward account in mid-July. All families will need to complete this information for each student as soon as possible so the school district can work to assign classes, assign buses and routes, and more.
All guidelines set forth in these documents are in effect until further notice. These guidelines may be updated should recommendations from federal, state or local authorities provide new information and guidance.
We appreciate the support or our families and community as we navigate through these unprecedented times. In mid-July, we will ask all families to complete online registration and enrollment to help us plan for in-person and online class sizes, numbers of students riding buses, and more.
Please be sure your contact information is updated in your student's Skyward Account. If you have questions, please email Skyward@MooresvilleSchools.org.
