Exceptional Learners - We recognize the need to give students with a variety of needs the best education possible, including those who have high ability, require special education services, are English language learners, are homeless, or fall into additional categories of special services.
Another part of our special education department is the developmental preschool. Preschool programming is offered for students ages 3 and 4 who have documented developmental delays. Please contact our Preschool Coordinator for additional information about the preschool program.
At Mooresville Schools, we want all students to be as successful as possible. If a family situation makes education difficult, our Family Services Coordinators are here to assist. See their webpage for more information.
Section 504 provides appropriate educational services that meet the individual needs of students with disabilities in order to ensure that they are offered the same opportunities for a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) as students without disabilities. A 504 plan is an education plan created under the authority of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. It is designed to create modifications and accommodations for students with special needs who are in their school’s general education setting. An example might be a child who has a phycial disability which does not affect learning, but may affect getting to and from class or participating in gym class. For this reason, the 504 plan should not be confused with an IEP. Please contact our Section 504 Coordinator for more information.
