MHS Clubs/Activities for 2016-17


American Sign Language:  Students will learn and practice American Sign Language Sponsor: Mrs. Taylor 


Anime Club: This club is for students with common iterest to socialize and talk about cos-play (acting), movies, and books. They share their favorite stories from the books. Sponsor: Ms. Staggs


Best Buddies:  Works to establish a friendship between students with and without disabilities.  Sponsors: Ms. Ratliff and Mr. McDonald


DECA:  DECA is a club that allows students to participate in business competitions and meet students from other schools and states.  Sponsors:  Ms. Ball and Mrs. Kroll


Drama Club:  Promotes acting and improvisational skill for students who are interested in theater arts. Sponsor: Mrs. Kassen


Fellowship of Christian Athletes:  Student athletes will be given an opportunity to grow in unity for Christ. Sponsor: Mr. Brewer


FFA:  Develop leadership, personal growth and career success all through learning about agricultural education.  Activities include judging contests, leadership contests and community service.  Sponsor:  Mrs. Wolford


F.O.R.Club:  The Friends of Rachel is a new club at Mooresville High School. It is dedicated to promoting five challenges to the students and community through a variety of activities.  This club is part of a larger, world-wide movement that was initiated by Rachel Scott’s parents. Rachel Scott was the first student killed at the Columbine massacre in April 1999. Rachel was a kind and compassionate person who wanted to change the world with a “chain reaction of kindness.” It is the club’s goal to encourage everyone to speak with kindness, look for the best in others, choose positive influences, dream big, and start your own chain reaction. JSA:  Junior Sate of America is a club that meets after school and discusses current events.  Sponsor: Ms.Gilly


Math Academic Competitions:   Prepares students to be part of the math academic team which competes in math competitions.  Sponsor:  Mrs. Vaughan


National Honor Society (NHS):  Any junior or senior who has a minimum grade point average of 3.3 at the end of the first semester is eligible for possible selection into the National Honor Society.  These students receive an activity form to complete and must write an essay about why they would like to be a member.  Selection is based on four criteria:  scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Sponsors: Mrs. Manion and Mrs. Eickhoff


Q Crew:  Students will gain a better understanding of seismology (earthquakes). Sponsor: Mr. Lindsey


Robotics:  Introduces students to engineering and innovative engineering principles while preparing for robotic competitions.  Sponsors: Mr. Fellow and Mr. Shafer


SADD:  Students Against Destructive Decisions addresses the issue of underage drinking, impaired driving, drug use and other destructive decisions.  Activities throughout the year are planned around bringing awareness to positive choices that teens can make.  Sponsor: Mrs. Kroll


Science Club:  This club is designed to explore the world of science and gain a better understanding of careers in the science field. Sponsor: Mr. Hoffman


Spanish Club:  Students will be able to participate in cultural activities that highlight the Latin culture. Sponsor: Ms. Mirabelli 


Student Council: MHS Student Council is a member of the Indiana Association of Student Councils and has maintained an Honor Council status for the past 13 years. The council consists of the student body co-presidents, four officers from each class, and representative members.
