HIGH ABILITY PHILOSOPHY

The Mooresville Schools High Ability program delivers a K-12 continuum of services that identifies and meets the needs of high ability students with a challenging and appropriately paced curriculum in the Core subject areas.  We are dedicated to creating a learning environment that maximizes student potential, develops talent, accelerates learning and increases depth of understanding.

 

DEFINITION OF HIGH ABILITY

A student with high abilities is one who performs at, or shows the potential for performing at, an outstanding level of accomplishment in at least one academic domain when compared to other students of the same age, experience, or environment; and is characterized by exceptional gifts, talents, motivation, or interests

 

 PROGRAM AND SERVICE GOALS

1. Foster a learning environment which provides for challenging, differentiated curriculum and instruction for high ability students.
2. High ability students in grades K-12 will be identified in an equitable process
3. Offer an environment where high ability students are encouraged to reach their full potential
