Preparing for Kindergarten
At Mooresville, we work hard to create a caring and nurturing environment for our newest Pioneers while giving our students an excitement for learning.
Students who will turn age 5 by August 1 of a school year are eligible to join the kindergarten class. Mooresville Schools have several opportunities to help families get ready for this big step. Read through the information below and don't hesitate to contact the school your child will attend to answer any questions.
Visit our YouTube page for a great video from our panel of kindergarten experts about this big transition.
Summertime Kindergarten Preparation
Each spring, the district holds a pre-kindergarten fair where families can learn about our schools, receive important information for kindergarten preparedness, and share a fun evening with future classmates. The 2017 fair was Tuesday, April 4, from 5:30-7:00p.m. at Neil Armstrong Elementary School on State Road 144.
Kindergarten Round Up
Kindergarten teachers at each school meet with small groups of students during our Round Up days. These provide a chance for families and future students to meet their teachers, ask questions about the school, and ask any follow-up questions they may have after the Pre-Kindergarten Fair. Round Up will be held on the following:
Parents may start the enrollment process by completing an Online Registration Request to access our student information system enrollment form. You'll receive a follow-up email to complete your enrollment information. If you already have a student or students attending Mooresville Schools, please login in to your Skyward Family Access Account and click on the New Student Online Enrollment link at the top left of the page. Read through this Online Enrollment Guide for step-by-step instructions. If you have any issues with online enrollment, please contact us at email@example.com .
Caring for Future Pioneers
Riding the big yellow school bus is a new and exciting experience for our kindergarten students, and we want them to be comfortable and confident with their first bus ride. The week prior to school, we will have a school bus orientation program when students can ride the bus with their parents and learn important safety rules for the bus stop as well as riding the bus. Families receive information at Kindergarten Roundup or can contact their child's school for information.
The Indiana State Department of Health sets vaccination requirements for students entering kindergarten. We recommend families set appointments with the child's pediatrician in plenty of time to get required paperwork completed before the start of school. Review the state's Guidelines and Requirements.
